Crime History: Slain President Kennedy buried at Arlington

On this day, Nov. 25, in 1963, President John F. Kennedy was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, three days after he was assassinated. Kennedy, the country’s 35th president, was shot and killed while riding in a motorcade in Dallas. He was shot in the back of the head.

Government investigations concluded that the shooter was Lee Harvey Oswald, The day before Kennedy was laid to rest, Oswald was fatally shot by Jack Ruby as Oswald was being transferred from one jail to another.

Hundreds of thousands of mourners viewed Kennedy’s casket at the U.S. Capitol the day before his funeral. He was buried after a Mass at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Northwest Washington.
