Democrats’ comparison of GOP/Nazis fails civility test

President Obama once called upon Americans to demonstrate “civility” following the shooting of Rep. Gabby Giffords in Arizona.Perhaps the president should begin by preaching to his own party.As one blogger recently observed, “President Obama cannot control his own party, is it any wonder he has failedAmerica?”
The comment by Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, seems to reflect a growing trend in the Democratic Party.To put Brown’s remark in context, at the recently concluded Democratic National Convention, South Carolina party chairman Dick Harpootlian also said that Republican Gov. Nikki Haley “was down in the bunker a la Eva Braun.”Earlier, California party chairmanJohn Burton compared the GOP to Nazi propagandistJoseph Goebbels.
One gets the impression that instead of reining-in these extremists, some Democratic political consultant is suggesting that Nazi analogies may actually help their party.American voters deserve better.
As there are issues of great moment separating the parties and the candidates in the Ohio Senate race, it behooves folks like Brown to climb out of the gutter and get on with the critical debate on the merits.

Obama’s ‘saving’ of GM came at a great cost
Re: “Biden tries to bolster battered image with DNC defense of Obama,” Sept. 6
In 2008, candidate Barack Obama railed against enhanced interrogation. After becoming president, his administration filed criminal charges against Jose Rodriguez for his role in overseeing interrogation of Guantanamo Bay prisoners, which produced intelligence that stopped terrorist attacks in Los Angeles and New York and also led to the killing of Osama bin Laden.
After all of this, President Obama trots out his vice president to say, “General Motors is alive, and Osama bin Laden is dead!” at the Democrats’ national convention.
To add insult to injury, the Obama’s administration “saved” GM by stripping bond holders of their investments, taking pensions from nonunion employees, forcing dealerships to close and handing a $35 billion loss to taxpayers as of July of this year.
Where is the outrage?

Traffic cameras keep me from visiting D.C.

I wonder how many other people besides myself no longer go into the District to frequent its theaters, restaurants and retail stores for fear of getting a ticket from one of the traffic cameras.

Bush caused our current economic predicament
U.S. businesses that sent trillions of dollars overseas to avoid federal taxes are now saying they are willing to bring the money back if they can pay much lower taxes? If that sounds fair to you, vote Republican because that is part of the GOP agenda.
Eight years of George W. Bush put us into this predicament with his made-up, unpaid for war in Iraq. If the American people are dumb enough to put these scoundrels back into office, the middle class will deserve what they will get.
