Firebomb hits Baltimore activist?s home

A community activist?s home in Baltimore?s Waverly neighborhood was attacked early Wednesday morning, Baltimore police said.

Between 2 and 2:30 a.m., multiple incendiary devices were thrown at the home of the activist ? whose name this paper is withholding ? with one landing on a neighbor?s porch and the others landing in her yard, Baltimore police spokesman Sterling Clifford said.

The fire damage on the home was minimal and everyone in the house got out OK, police said.

“The residents of this house had reported criminal activity in the past and they have been active in the community,” Clifford said. “They?ve also been the victims of vandalism in the past.”

Since the vandalism occurred, police have stepped up patrols around the home ? and, as of Wednesday, ? there is an even higher level of police activity in the neighborhood, Clifford said.

The family has been placed in the protection of the police department.

“We are aggressively looking for the people responsible,” he said.
