Would Huntsman run as an independent?

Former 2012 Republican presidential candidate Jon Huntsman may run again as a independent.

The former Utah GOP governor has been talking with supporters about another White House bid as an independent, three sources close to him told Buzzfeed.

His daughter, Abby Huntsman Livingston, who helped him on the campaign trail in 2012, said in an email he is “primarily focused on family and private-sector endeavors” and though he has no plans to run, “in politics, never say never.”

Huntsman declined to comment for the record.

Other friends and former aides noted his conversations about 2016 are a way for Huntsman to hear from his supporters — not to show interest in running.

After finishing third in the 2012 New Hampshire Republican primary, Huntsman dropped out of the race and endorsed Mitt Romney.

Since his failed White House bid, Huntsman has become co-chairman of an organization of Democrats, Republicans and independents dubbed “No Labels.” He is also the chairman of the Atlantic Council, a nonpartisan international affairs think tank.
