President Bush has just named two local boldfaced names to fill slots on the Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy: Elizabeth F. Bagley, who served as ambassador to Portugal and adviser to former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright during the Clinton administration, and Torie Clark, the former assistant secretary of Defense under Donald Rumsfeld.

According to the State Department’s Web site, the commission provides “oversight of U.S. government activities intended to understand, inform, and influence foreign publics.”
