Democrats having a ‘horrible’ 2019, says Kellyanne Conway

White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Monday that Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot so far in 2019 with scandals and opposing mainstream policies supported by President Trump.

“I think the Democrats have had a horrible six weeks in 2019,” Conway said on Fox News. “They’re the ones at the table now that can’t get this done. They’re the ones hurtling us toward a shutdown.”

Conway was referring to the Democratic position that Trump must agree to limit the number of illegal immigrants he can detain as part of a broad border agreement. Trump said Monday that this demand is “crazy.”

“The Democrats do not want us to detain, or send back, criminal aliens!” he tweeted. “This is a brand new demand. Crazy!”

But Conway also said the scandals involving Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax are also weighing down the Democrats.

“They’ve got the top Democrat in Virginia is an accused racist,” she said. “The second Democrat, the lieutenant governor in Virginia, is an accused rapist, a difference of a letter.”

“And they’ve got this congresswoman from Minnesota again having anti-Semitic sewage spewing from her mouth overnight,” Conway added, referring to Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.

“And then you’ve got people running for president on the ‘Green New Deal,'” Conway added. “Seventy percent taxes, socialized medicine, they want to do away with cows, they want to do away with gas, they want to do away with cow gas.”

She said Democrats have also failed to take on others in their party who are proposing third-term abortions, and have failed to propose ways to crackdown on human trafficking at the border.

“They’re sitting on their hands while the president is speaking against abortion in the eighth and ninth month, trying to stop human trafficking and sex trafficking,” she said. “It’s been a really terrible six weeks, and we need a fully functioning Washington where both parties are focused on 2019, and not 2020.”
