The war inside the House GOP caucus has reached a new divide, with the vocal, pro-Trump wing calling on voters to dump Republican centrists.
“We are not the fringe,” said first-term Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene. “We are the base,” she said during an appearance with former Trump aide Steve Bannon on his War Room podcast on Tuesday.
Greene and other outspoken conservatives have recently stepped up their criticism of GOP leaders, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, for either working with Democrats or not punishing Republicans who have joined with Democrats to pass elements of President Joe Biden’s agenda.
They have also taken on centrists in the party who are upset with their hot, anti-Democratic rhetoric.
Greene, for example, took a new swipe at fellow Rep. Nancy Mace, a South Carolina Republican who has called for a Twitter truce with Democrats and chided Rep. Lauren Boebert for critical comments of Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar. “I encourage people on both sides of the aisle to take a pause,” Mace said on CNN.
But Greene’s focus has been on top Republicans and trying to take a lead in the pro-Trump wing.
1. There are a lot of people that need to hear this.
We Conservatives in the @HouseGOP aren’t the fringe.
We actually represent the base of Republican voters, which is approximately 70%.
And when the party learns to represent Conservative Americans, we will never lose again.

Greene, for example, wrote a Twitter thread scolding GOP leaders for not leaning right hard enough.
“There are a lot of people that need to hear this. We Conservatives in the @HouseGOP aren’t the fringe,” she tweeted. “We actually represent the base of Republican voters, which is approximately 70%. And when the party learns to represent Conservative Americans, we will never lose again.”
3. Because he appeals to the common man and woman.
You can’t fool them, they see through the bull-shitters.
When Republicans learn how to truly represent the workers, traditional families, & restore rural America with #AmericaFirst policies then the party will earn their vote.

A former businesswoman who is building a national base, Greene said that Trumpism and the former president’s connection with blue-collar workers are the keys to GOP success.
“We need to represent traditional family values and America first policies. That’s how the GOP conference can win elections and never lose again,” she told Bannon.
