Ted Cruz fired away at Donald Trump’s criticism of the primary process on Glenn Beck’s radio program Tuesday, needling the GOP front-runner for his lack of knowledge of the delegate selection process in various states.
Setting aside Trump’s frustration with the Colorado Republican party’s convention last weekend, Cruz retold the Trump campaign’s recent flub of lobbying for support in Washington state, in which an email to supporters listed a filing deadline that had already passed by two days. The mounting number of such missteps led Cruz to needle Trump’s organizational ability.
“Donald’s whole pitch is he’s a great businessman, and yet his campaign right now — it appears he can’t run a lemonade stand,” Cruz said. He added that Trump would fire himself on The Apprentice over his campaign’s recent performance.
Trump continued to hammer the rules of the Republican party’s nominating contest during a CNN town hall event Tuesday evening, saying the system is “stacked” against him. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Preibus indirectly responded with a statement that it was the responsibility of the candidates to understand the nomination process, which has been in place for more than a year.
“Complaints now? Give us all a break,” Preibus tweeted.
