Gay Rights Group Attacks Hillary On Same-Sex Marriage Record

Hillary Clinton wasn’t advocating for the right for gay people to marry when it mattered. That’s what the gay rights group, Log Cabin Republicans, is saying.

A new video released by the group shows clips of Clinton opposing same-sex marriage when she was a senator from New York.

Clinton regularly touts her support for LGBT rights. During Wednesday’s CNN Town Hall, she said, “We have to preserve marriage equality. We have to go further to end discrimination against the LGBT community.”

LCR president Gregory T. Angelo says in a statement:

The furious liberal reaction to our new video underlines precisely why Log Cabin Republicans felt it necessary to call attention to Hillary Clinton’s hypocrisy on LGBT equality. Democrats and members of the LGBT community continue to allow Clinton to run on her dismal marriage equality record with a straight face. Consider the instinctual left-wing response when confronted with the facts presented in our video: Liberals defended Clinton’s flawed record, excused her behavior, and attacked conservatives in desperate attempts to deflect criticism. The fact is, Clinton was wrong on gay rights when it mattered. Log Cabin Republicans is determined to hold her accountable.
