INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis is out of the running for the 2016 U.S. Olympic swimming trials.
The Indiana Sports Corp. announced Tuesday that USA Swimming had notified it that Indianapolis no longer is a candidate to be the host city.

USA Swimming assistant executive director Mike Unger says the stadium in downtown Indianapolis “has proven to be challenging for creating an intimate swimming setting around the pool.”
Sports corporation spokesman John Dedman says the Olympic trials need two 50-meter pools. Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis hosted the 2004 FINA World Championships with two 25-meter pools, but it doesn’t have room for two of the larger pools.
