Former Alaska Gov. and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin lashed out at liberal talk show host Bill Maher on Twitter Thursday morning after the comedian called her 5-year-old son Trig “retarded” this past weekend.
Maher made the remark during a stand-up comedy show at the Palms Casino Resorts in Las Vegas Saturday, where he is in the middle of a residency. Trig suffers from Down Syndrome, a genetic disorder that can cause physical problems and intellectual disabilities in humans.
Hey bully, on behalf of all kids whom you hatefully mock in order to make yourself feel big, I hope one flattens your lily white wimpy a#*.

One brave audience member, Ron Futrell, did fight back in Palin’s defense, and according to his blog ended up being escorted out of the event for confronting the HBO talk show host. Futrell, a former local TV host and outspoken conservative, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he has a special needs child of his own.
“Of course, since Trig is Palin’s son, he is a target of the left. Special needs be damned, there are jokes to be made by “caring compassionate” liberals,” Futrell wrote on his blog Tuesday. “I was so disgusted and a bit surprised that I forgot the exact joke. Perhaps he saves this joke for live audiences only. The audience of more supposed compassionate, caring leftists loved the joke and roared with laughter.”
Palin even tweeted that she’d be willing to meet up with Maher to discuss his inappropriate comment.
I’m in your neck of the woods this weekend, little Bill. Care to meet so I can tell you how I really feel? shar.es/wLpR6

While Palin herself has been the target of several of Maher’s jokes in the past, this was by far the lowest attack he’s made on the Tea Party darling – and an attack that’s inappropriate regardless of whom the politician or celebrity in question is.
