Australian Nick Kyrgios slammed two of his rackets to the ground in a fit of rage following his quarterfinal defeat in the U.S. Open to Karen Khachanov.
The moment of frustration by the 23 seed in the tournament occurred after losing a close five-set match to the 27-seed Khachanov, who is Russian but is competing under a neutral flag due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Following the match, Kyrgios expressed disappointment in his performance, saying he felt like he “failed” in his quest for his first Grand Slam title.
“I’m just devastated, obviously,” Kyrgios said. “I just feel like it was either winning it all or nothing at all, to be honest. I feel like I’ve just failed at this event right now. That’s what it feels like.”
Kyrgios also congratulated Khachanov, who is reaching his first Grand Slam semifinal.
