Poll: Bernie Sanders gaining on Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton continues to lose her advantage over Bernie Sanders.

According to a new CNN/ORC poll, 47 percent of self-identified Democratic voters or Democratic-leaning voters would vote for Clinton in a primary, compared to Sanders’ 29 percent. In the same poll last month, Clinton had 56 percent of the votes to Sanders’ 19 percent.

Vice President Joe Biden, who has not revealed his presidential aspirations, garnered 14 percent. Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley received 2 percent and former Virginia Sen. Jim Webb earned 1 percent.

Furthermore, Clinton has seen her lead against Donald Trump, the Republican front-runner, shrink. She is currently ahead of the businessman by just 6 points (51 percent to 45 percent), after leading him by 16 points (56 percent to 40 percent) in July. Clinton continues to lead over other potential GOP challengers, including former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.

The telephone-based poll of 358 self-identified Democratic voters or Democratic-leaning voters was conducted Aug. 13-16 with a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.
