Tammy Duckworth becomes first US senator to vote with newborn baby in tow: WATCH

Sen. Tammy Duckworth, D-Ill., made history Thursday by bringing her newborn daughter onto the Senate floor with her as she cast her vote against the confirmation of Trump’s pick to head NASA.

Duckworth became the first sitting senator to give birth while in office when she, husband Bryan Bowlsbey, and eldest daughter Abigail welcomed Maile Pearl on April 10.

On Wednesday, the Senate unanimously approved a new rule to permit infants under the age of 1 to enter the Senate floor.

Former Rep. Jim Bridenstine became NASA’s new administrator following the close 50-49 vote.
