WHY IT’S A BAD IDEA: Clearly, this was a move to target Republicans — that is, after all, how they keep in touch with their supporters, being the party of the technorati. Seriously though, what makes the legislature more susceptible to viruses than the rest of us? If that’s part of the way legislators need to garner support for their projects, the IT department should probably just let them have it. Get a virus protection program and move on.

Today’s bright bulb: It’s never a ‘good time’ for gun crime
Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon testified in Annapolis Tuesday in favor of a bill that would reduce the number of “good time” credits an inmate serving a sentence for a gun conviction can receive. People who commit gun crimes don’t deserve to have their sentences cut in half for good behavior — the majority of them will just leave and get right back out on the streets. Maybe longer sentences will make people think twice before committing a gun crime and give the prison system a better chance to rehabilitate offenders.
Quote of the day
“I have said many times before, there are too many illegal guns in our city. And these guns and the criminals who use them must be removed from our city.” – Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon in her “state of the city” address Monday. Dixon has made decreasing gun violence a focal point of her administration.
