Last week?s question: Do you think that once Baltimore?s new Convention Center Hotel is complete that the city will attract more national convention business?
» David Callahan writes: Sure it will. The question is whether Baltimore will gain enough to justify the substantial expense. That is far from certain and I doubt anyone truly knows how to calculate those odds. At this point, the only guaranteed winners from the project are some of the labor unions.
» S. Ban?s response: Absolutely. Hotel capacity is a challenge for Baltimore. While the effort will require a more sophisticated marketing effort for the Convention Center and the city (Get In On It won?t cut it), we should be able to capitalize upon Baltimore?s location, climate, and cultural assets to attract more business.
» This week?s question: Are Baltimore businesses doing enough to support city schools? Why or why not?
