White House’s annual congressional picnic is on

This year’s annual congressional picnic is a go after last year’s was cancelled.

“That should be interesting,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Friday about next Wednesday’s affair.

Last year’s June picnic was postponed until September before being cancelled due to Congress’ preoccupation with the Syrian conflict.

The picnic is known as being a “standing Washington tradition, the picnic offers the president and the first lady a chance to socialize casually with lawmakers, building good will.”
