Democratic senator drops F-bomb after technical difficulty during Postal Service hearing

Delaware Sen. Tom Carper dropped the F-bomb three times after a technical difficulty nearly caused him to miss his time for questioning during a hearing Friday.

Carper, a Democrat, was set to ask questions of Postmaster General Louis DeJoy when his muted microphone caused Chairman Ron Johnson to call on the next senator. When Carper’s microphone kicked on, the string of curse words was aired to the committee.

“F—, f—, f—,” Carper said as a staff member rushed on camera to address the technical issues.

When it became apparent that Carper’s microphone was very, clearly working, Johnson called on Carper to deliver his questions.

“Sen. Carper, can you unmute? We don’t want to be on TV again,” Johnson said with a laugh.

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, a spokeswoman for Carper downplayed the outburst.

“Like most Americans in 2020, Senator Carper got frustrated with technical difficulties this morning, but that pales in comparison to his frustration with a Postmaster General who’s actively undermining the U.S. Postal Service during a national crisis,” she said.
