Liberals on Twitter are calling for Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein to step down from her position on the Senate Judiciary Committee following her compliment of committee Chairman Sen. Lindsey Graham.
“Mr. Chairman, I just want to thank you,” the California Democrat told Graham at the conclusion of the hearing Thursday afternoon. “This has been one of the best Senate hearings that I’ve participated in, and I want to thank you for your fairness and the opportunity of going back-and-forth,” she added before embracing Graham as the hearing dispersed.

“This is abominable,” former U.S. Office of Government Ethics Director Walter Shaub tweeted. “Aside from everything else making this nomination a sham, Graham violated the quorum rule. And Feinstein praises him for his corrupt leadership? What a disgraceful thing.”

“Lindsey Graham stealing 2 Supreme Court seats, defending Kavanaugh, refusing Covid test & then getting hugged by Feinstein is perfect illustration of asymmetric warfare between parties,” Mother Jones writer Ari Berman tweeted.

“It’s very hard to watch a colleague in decline,” she was reportedly told. “That this is occurring publicly is even harder.”

“It’s time for Sen. Feinstein to step down from her leadership position on the Senate Judiciary Committee. If she won’t, her colleagues need to intervene,” Brian Fallon, the executive director of Demand Justice and former Hillary Clinton campaign spokesperson, said Thursday.
Senators voted Thursday 12-10 along partisan lines to hold a confirmation vote for Judge Amy Coney Barrett on Oct. 22 to the chagrin of Democrats who have urged the vote to be pushed until after the Nov. 3 election.
