Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has purportedly signed a book deal.
The Republican governor accepted “a lucrative book deal with HarperCollins,” according to Politico.
The news outlet cited two people who are familiar with the deal.
DeSantis reportedly had agreed to a nearly $2 million book deal with Simon and Schuster before pulling out after realizing the publisher is owned by Paramount, the parent company of CBS News’s 60 Minutes.
The governor has claimed that 60 Minutes falsely reported details regarding Florida’s COVID-19 vaccines rollout in the spring of 2021, saying DeSantis prioritized wealthy communities and prioritized them to benefit donors.

HarperCollins is a subsidiary of News Corporation, which is overseen by the Murdoch family.
Other publishers were apparently “really surprised” that DeSantis did not shop around more, pointing to the potential for success.
DeSantis’s popularity remains high. If Florida’s gubernatorial election happened today, data from Mason Dixon Polling and Strategy show that DeSantis would be reelected. A recent Harvard CAPS/Harris poll, which surveyed 1,815 voters in January, showed the governor is an early favorite for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination should Donald Trump choose not to run.

The book would be the Republican governor’s second. In 2011, DeSantis published Dreams from our Founding Fathers: First Principles in the Age of Obama, which was published by HPH Publishing.
