A group of fishermen in Florida may have broken a state record on April 15 after they caught a reported 832-pound bluefin tuna in the Gulf of Mexico.
The weight of the fish and its picture were posted to social media by HarborWalk Marina.
The boat, No Name, was led by Captain Jake Matney and crewed by deckmates Devin Sarver and Jett Tolbert, according to a report.

Matney’s family was also aboard.
The massive tuna was caught roughly 160 miles out to sea, and it took the crew almost four and half hours to reel it in, the report noted.
“Words cannot express how [grateful] I am!” Sarver wrote in a Facebook post. “What happened to us the ups and downs of this battle make for a great story with great people! 5 hours before this fish was all said and done, THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF!”
“I’ve never had so much respect for a fish and to catch him in the Gulf of Mexico is a feat of it’s own!!” Sarver wrote. “This bluefin was as bad as they come, God is great!”

The No Name’s catch has not yet been confirmed as a new state record, and the current record is listed as an 826-pound, 8-ounce bluefin tuna caught in 2017, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
