Ohio Gov. John Kasich believes Donald Trump “absolutely” mocked a New York Times reporter with a physical disability.
In an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Kasich, a GOP presidential candidate, said his rival Trump has insulted a slew of people, including women, Muslims, Hispanics and reporters.
Host Martha Raddatz asked, “Do you believe what Donald Trump is saying that he didn’t know he was insulting the reporter?”, referring to The New York Times’ Serge Kovaleski.
“Well, he’s insulted other reporters,” Kasich replied. “This one he absolutely mocked, who was disabled.”
“Martha, I know you’re offended by this. We all are,” added Kasich. “We need a leader that brings us together, not a leader that’s separating us, one group from another.”
Last week, Trump got into some hot water for the way he flailed his arms while speaking at a campaign event about Kovaleski, who has a congenital joint disease which hinders one’s ability to move one’s limbs. Trump denied he was mocking the reporter’s disability and said he did not know him. The GOP front-runner then demanded an apology from The New York Times for accusing him of doing so.
