Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Va., is kicking off the final days of his re-election campaign with “24 Hours of Tom” – 20 campaign stops in 24 hours – that began Monday at 12:01 a.m.
The swing will include visits with late night workers, small business owners and a debate later Monday with independent candidate Jeff Clark at the University of Virginia. The Perriello camp is chronicling the campaign stops on Twitter.
Perriello, who won in 2008 by just 727 votes, is facing a tough fight from Republican state Sen. Robert Hurt. Hurt campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg dismissed Perriello’s tour as a political gimmick.
“Twenty-two months of Congressman Perriello fighting for the interests of Nancy Pelosi and proudly supporting her job-killing agenda is enough, 5th District voters simply can’t afford another 24 hours of Tom,” she said.
