‘An act of war’: Lindsey Graham slams Iranian ‘cancer in the Mideast’

Sen. Lindsey Graham called Iran’s attack on an Iraqi-U.S. coalition military base “an act of war” and asserted that President Trump will not be “conned” by the Iranian regime.

“The missiles were launched from Iran at targets inside Iraq housing military U.S. personnel,” Graham said. “It was an act of war by a regime for the last 40 years that’s been a cancer in the Mideast.”

Hours after striking the Al Asad air base in the western province of Anbar, Iraq, the Iranian government threatened to attack Israel and Dubai if the United States retaliates.

“When they say they want to destroy Israel, they’re not kidding,” Graham remarked.

The situation in Iraq escalated after Trump ordered airstrikes that killed Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani and Iraqi militia leader Abu Mahdi al Muhandis. Thousands marched in the streets of Baghdad during the funeral procession for Soleimani and Iran’s leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed “revenge” awaited for the U.S.

“We need a nuclear deal that does not insure them a pathway to the bomb, like Obama,” Graham said. “Obama was conned by the Iranians; Trump is not going to be conned by the Iranians.”
