Gingrich is unqualified to lead nation Re: “Sparks fly in GOP’s final S.C. debate,” Jan. 20

As I wrote in a prior letter to The Examiner, “Any man who would cheat on his wife would also cheat on his country, given the chance.”

Mr. Gingrich is clearly that man. In fact, his very real psychosis is his predetermined belief that his personal life and actions in no way affect his electability or his qualifications for becoming president of this once great nation.

Rebuttals that his infidelity happened a long time ago, that Mrs. Gingrich the Second is vindictive, that he sought forgiveness from his God for his mistakes abound. But he was a mature man, not a 19-year-old.

Mr. Gingrich is profoundly unqualified to be president, as is Barack Obama, but for different reasons.

Cuccinelli understands D.C. law better than Cheh does

Re: “Rats! Cheh says Cuccinelli didn’t read law he attacks,” Jan. 20

Alan Blinder’s article misses some critical information. While the Wildlife Protection Act of 2010 does exclude “commensal rodents,” D.C.’s definition of “commensal rodent” does not include the rice rat or the deer mouse, both of which are found in the city.

Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s office has noted this, but none of the local media — or Rush Limbaugh — included this detail, which is easy to miss.

My guess is that it never occurred to Councilwoman Mary Cheh that her legislation wouldn’t exempt the rice rat or deer mouse. Imagine that, a regulator who doesn’t understand her own regulation. So let’s set the record straight: Cuccinelli understand’s Cheh’s legislation even better than she does.

Exemption or not, rats are a growing problem, and Cuccinelli’s bringing attention to it is good for D.C. Maybe we should put more energy into solving the problem instead of attacking him.

Abortion foes must not give up hope

In the nearly four decades since the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, it has become more difficult to deny that abortion is morally wrong when we can see the murder of an innocent human being on ultrasound. Still, some still perceive it as a necessary evil.

With progressive left-wing White House efforts to expand the culture of death, we must have the moral integrity and courage to face this political pressure by refusing to cooperate with immorality passing itself off as medicine.

Science and faith will both lead mankind to the truth. Rather than falling into despair that abortion will never end, we must continue to pray that those involved in the abortion industry will receive insight into that truth.
