MSNBC host Chris Matthews suggested that fellow MSNBC host and former Republican congressman Joe Scarborough, R-Fla., mount a third party run for president by tacking just a little bit to the right of Mitt Romney.
“What do you think about Joe and third party?,” Matthews asked host Mika Brzezinski on today’s Morning Joe. “A little bit to the right of Mitt Romney, I’m thinking that might work.”
“Yeah, I’m being serious,” Matthews said in response to a question from Brzezinski.”If Mitt wins this thing, there will be such a vast chasm of opportunity to his right — not far right, but his right.”
When Brzezinski responded, “I kind of like him sitting to the left of me,” Matthews acknowledged that Scarborough has a “great slot here, but president’s pretty cool, too.”
