Hillary Clinton is not so interested in debating her Democratic primary opponents, but her campaign wants voters to watch the Republican debate tonight on CNN.
“Tonight, as part of the Clinton campaign’s plan to organize female supporters, Hillary for America will host nationwide ‘Women for Hillary’ GOP debate watch parties where women supporters and volunteers will attend over 100 house parties all across the country. While the Republican candidates bend over backwards to offer extreme, out-of-touch and out-of-date positions, women supporters will discuss Hillary’s record as a champion of women and girls,” Clinton’s campaign announced in a press release today.
“In conjunction with the house parties, the campaign is also launching a new Pinterest page: ‘Organizing 101: House Parties for Hillary’, the latest example of the campaign marrying old school organizing and digital platforms.”
Says a campaign spokeswoman, “We are working to earn every vote and know how important it is for our country and our campaign to have women’s voices at the table. That is why our campaign will continue to build an organization in and outside of the early four voting states, in keeping with our approach of taking nothing for granted and preparing for a competitive primary. … Tonight, all across the country, our grassroots women supporters will engage their communities and highlight the clear contrast between Republicans attack on women and Hillary Clinton’s agenda to help working families.”
The press release notes that Clinton will continue to fund Planned Parenthood should she become president of the United States. “Hillary Clinton has fought for women and girls her entire career. As president, Clinton will protect funding for Planned Parenthood, and will stand up against Republicans who are trying to make it harder for women to access affordable health care, including birth control. She will fight to ensure America finally guarantees paid family leave, allowing working families to take care of a new baby or a sick relative without losing their paycheck or their job. And she will fight to ensure that women receive equal pay. This will strengthen America’s families by helping women and their families get ahead.”
