President Trump said Wednesday he feels “somewhat” vindicated by House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes saying he has seen reports indicating conversations involving members of President Trump’s transition team were collected by intelligence officials.
Asked if he feels vindicated by a reporter at the White House on Wednesday, Trump said: “I somewhat do. I must tell you I somewhat do. I very much appreciated the fact that they found what they found. But I somewhat do.”
House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said Wednesday that new intelligence reports show some conversations involving members of Trump’s transition team were collected by intelligence officials but said those conversations appeared to be collected “legally” in the course of “normal, foreign surveillance.”
“I have seen intelligence reports that clearly show that the President-elect and his team were, I guess at least monitored and disseminated out in intelligence, in what appears to be raw — or, I shouldn’t say raw — intelligence recording channels,” Nunes said.
Earlier this month, Trump, without citing evidence, tweeted: “Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my ‘wires tapped’ in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!” Obama has denied the allegation.
