Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv said Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has assured him that the Second Amendment “won’t be touched.”
“An honor discussing #2A and the Constitution with Justice Clarence Thomas,” Kashuv tweeted with a picture of himself and Thomas. “He told me about some of the cases he dissented on and how #2A won’t be touched.”

The conservative Supreme Court judge’s comments come after a national debate on gun control was sparked in the wake of the deadly mass shooting at Kashuv’s high school, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. in February.
Thomas’ former colleague, former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, also jumped in on the debate in a New York Times op-ed calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. The liberal judge urged demonstrators to call for a full repeal in order to create more lasting and effective change.
While many Parkland students have become outspoken activists in favor of gun control, Kashuv has served as a dissenting conservative voice.
