CNN host Jake Tapper called out his “rogue” control room on Wednesday after the team rolled footage highlighting President Trump’s “hypocrisy” after he accused freshman Rep. IIhan Omar of anti-Semitism.
During a segment on his show, Tapper highlighted how the Democratic congresswoman from Minnesota has apologized for pushing the stereotype that Jews control politicians with money. Tapper also pointed out that Trump and his allies, who have called Omar anti-Semitic and her apology inadequate, have pushed anti-Semitic stereotypes themselves.
In a tongue-and-cheek display, Tapper repeatedly told his production team to show tweets and clips of Omar, but instead they showed tweets and footage of Trump and other Republicans making remarks almost identical to Omar’s.
“We seem to have some issues here sorting which anti-Semitic tropes are offensive are not,” Tapper said.

Omar drew bipartisan criticism earlier this week for a tweet accusing a pro-Israel lobbying group of paying lawmakers in exchange for influence. Critics said it invoked an anti-Semitic trope. She later apologized after being chastised by the House Democratic leadership.
Trump called her apology inadequate and said the congresswoman should resign.
