WATCH: Cam Newton argues women need to drop ‘bad b****’ persona

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton is in hot water after giving his opinion about how women ought to handle themselves in relationships.

The former Carolina Panthers quarterback explained his opinion on Sunday while speaking on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, citing his upbringing.

“I knew what a woman was — not a bad b****,” Newton said.

A “bad b****” is a woman who “looked the part” but didn’t “act the part,” the NFL free agent explained.

“A woman for me is handling your own but knowing how to cater to a man’s needs,” he said. “I think a lot of times when you get that aesthetic of like, ‘I’m a boss b****, I’m a this, I’m a that,’ no baby. But you can’t cook. You don’t know when to be quiet. You don’t know how to allow a man to lead.”

Social media users were quick to attack Newton for his remarks.

“Sounds like it’s my turn to sound off about men who ‘can’t pass’ or ‘win a super bowl,'” one NBC host tweeted.

“The same man who laughed at a female reporter for a valid question said something misogynistic? I, for one, am shocked,” another user tweeted.

“Cam Newton clearly can’t see that he’s perpetuating gender inequality,” one reporter said.
