Poll: Americans believe media making economy worse

A wide majority of Americans believe the media are making the economy worse by playing up negative news, driving down consumer confidence, according to a recent survey.

Of those responding to the Opinion Research Corp. survey conducted in December, 77 percent said media reports are driving down the economy, including 79 percent from households making $25,000 to $35,000 annually and 78 percent from those making $75,000 or more.
