White House: Expect more Obama ‘rants’

President Obama will probably unleash another verbal tirade or two on the world before he leaves office, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Thursday.

With more than 6 months to go in his term, “I think it’s likely that we’ll get to enjoy at least one more” rant, Earnest said when asked what to expect from the new, looser-tongued commander in chief.

At the end of a news conference in Ottawa after the North American Leaders’ Summit on Wednesday, Obama let out a self-described rant on the definition of populism.

There will probably be “a number of ticks on the spreadsheet under the rant column” to come, Earnest said.

His critics often dismiss him for being “‘professorial’ … but it’s something he’s done throughout his presidency,” Earnest said in explaining that Wednesday’s “rant” wasn’t the president’s first, or last, tangent or civics lesson.
