Citizens United’s Bossie eyed for RNC chair, Trump Super PAC

David Bossie, the Citizens United leader who helped his friend Donald Trump set up the campaign team he eventually joined is in line to take charge of the RepublicanNational Committee or set up a Trump super PAC, according to sources.

The conservative GOP activist and political dynamo who has been close to Trump for years has emerged as a top pick to replace RNC Chairman Reince Priebus who Trump tapped as his White House chief of staff.

But he might also create a pro-Trump super PAC aimed at helping the president-elect’s reelection in 2020, promoting his agenda and going after those who oppose the Republican.

Some allies are pushing for Bossie to take a White House role as a senior advisor, but indications were that he will be working for Trump on the outside.

“He has toiled in the vineyard for years and never got the respect he deserves,” said an ally.

David Bossie’s Citizens United is out soon with a new movie about faith starring Phil Richardson.

Still, the ally added, “He is going to have that seat at the table because Trump trusts him.”

Bossie is most known for winning the campaign finance law change with the Citizens United name on it. Democrats have railed against its opening of corporate wallets, though they rarely mention the millions of money labor unions give Democrats.

He is also a top political organizer cable of mobilizing millions of conservatives. “He knows people, he knows conservatism,” said another ally.

And he was one of the friends Trump called before the campaign began to help set up the initial staff. “He was the architect of that campaign,” said a friend.

“I don’t think I’ve known anyone more single minded in my life nor anyone more incapable of doing a dishonest or dishonorable thing. His ability to get things done is legendary as is his integrity,” said influential political public affairs advisor Craig Shirley, also chairman of Citizens for the Republic.

Some suggested that the RNC job isn’t the best fit, but his loyalty to Trump and connections throughout the party might overcome any hurdle. Typically RNC chairs are schmoozers responsible for hundreds of hours of fundraising.

Other names in the mix include former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, now said to be considering a Senate race, and former Trump campaign manager Cory Lewandowski.
