Federal investigators seized as many as 16 cell phones belonging to President Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen when the FBI raided his home, office and hotel room earlier this month.
Prosecutor Thomas McKay told a judge on Thursday that federal agents have already turned over four phones and one iPad, and are set to turn over the contents of “about a dozen” more on Friday, according to the New York Post.
Among the cell phones seized were two BlackBerrys. Porn star Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti told MSNBC that some of the devices could be up to 15 years old.
McKay told the judge that the officials are planning to hand off the seized materials to Cohen’s layers by May 11.
Cohen announced earlier this week that he plans to assert his Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions in the case brought on by Stormy Daniels, who was paid by Cohen and signed a nondisclosure agreement about her alleged extramarital affair with Trump more than a decade ago.
