MIA Gavin Newsom spotted at wedding officiated by Pelosi

Vogue documented the star-studded affair, which was hosted in San Francisco’s iconic Beaux-Arts city hall and officiated by none other than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Along with Newsom, Mayor London Breed was also in attendance. After the ceremony, the party moved to the Degas-and-Matisse-bedecked Getty Mansion, where actress Anya Taylor-Joy led the dance floor.

Gag me.

Newsom had cited family matters as the reason he couldn’t jet out to Scotland in the name of climate change, but the fact is that he has never been known as a workhorse. The Getty family, into which he married, kickstarted and bankrolled his entire career. Newsom’s father had managed the Getty family’s $2 billion trust and become friends with Gordon Getty, the son of patriarch J. Paul Getty. Starting with Gavin’s first-ever campaign in 1998, the Getty family became the second-largest donor of his career, giving Newsom more than a half-million dollars over two decades. So, it’s just typical for Newsom to be tossing back Veuve Cliquot with his billionaire pals.

But Pelosi? Seriously?

It’s not that Pelosi, the sixth-wealthiest person in Congress, doesn’t belong among her fellow Pacific Heights multimillionaires. It’s merely that she’s doing it while hundreds of Americans and countless Afghan allies remain trapped. And Pelosi has no problem fiddling while her president’s approval numbers burn. Ordinary Californians are struggling to feed their families amid soaring gas and grocery prices. Pelosi, fresh from trying to give the rich a huge tax cut by repealing the SALT deduction cap, showed up to celebrate a family that made its billions by destroying the environment.

Remember this the next time they ask you to sacrifice your paycheck, your children’s schools, and your public safety. The ruling class hates you, and none of the rules apply to the rulers.
