Prince George’s County Police have arrested three suspects in connection with an armed robbery of a McDonald’s in Capitol Heights.

The three are suspected of commiting other robberies in the area.

Police on Friday evening announced the arrest of Laurel residents Tony Lee Waters, 24, and Todd Wheeler, 24. They also arrested Brandon Alexander Cunningham, 20, of Largo. Waters was arrested on Wednesday in Kettering, according to police. Wheeler and Cunningham were developed as suspects and were arrested on Thursday.

“The community played a vital role by providing information that greatly assisted in the investigation,” Assistant Commander Captain Genia Reaves said in a statement.

Police on Friday said they are “investigating the possiblitiy that the suspects are involved with other robberies.” County police are currently investigating a string of commercial armed robberies in the county that took place over the weekend. According to police, the same two suspects are armed with semi-automatic handguns and have been entering commercial establishments wearing masks. The suspects park “a newer model gray Dodge Charger “on the side or to the rear of the targeted locations.

In addition, a similar string of robberies occured in the District during the days prior to the string of robberies in Prince George’s County. Police believe all the crimes were committed by the same suspects.
