First lady fashion: Remembering Oscar de la Renta’s handiwork

Legendary fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, who died at 82 on Monday, fitted celebrities, first ladies and other high-powered figures for half a century.

First ladies Jacqueline Kennedy, Nancy Reagan, Hillary Clinton and most recently Michelle Obama are among the women in politics who wore his work — and adored him as a person.

De la Renta also designed the wedding dress that Jenna Bush Hager, daughter of President George W. Bush, wore for her 2008 nuptials.

“Even though I was never fortunate enough 2 wear any of his sublime clothing, Oscar was a friend a wonderful and very talented friend. We were saddened to learn of his passing,” former first lady Barbara Bush said of his passing.

Stars such as Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock, Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Amal Clooney and many more have all have worn his work.

De la Renta died Monday at his home in Kent, Conn., after a long fight with cancer.
