Get ready to take your free shot at getting free tickets to a D.C. holiday tradition.
The National Park Service and National Park Foundation announced that 3,000 ticketed seats and 10,000 standing-room-only spots will be up for grabs for the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, which will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 9 on the National Mall.
The ticket lottery opens Nov. 5 and closes Nov. 7, with the ticket status of applicants available starting Nov. 10. The entertainment lineup for the ceremony will be announced in November.
