Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., seems to think it will make good politics for him to force a Senate vote on the Ryan budget. Writes Sam Stein:
“There will be an opportunity in the Senate to vote on the Ryan budget to see if Republican senators like the Ryan budget as much as the House did,” Reid said on a conference call with reporters. “Without going into the Ryan budget we will see how much the Republicans like it here in the Senate.”
Reid clearly expects the Republicans to panic and/or lose on this issue. And they might well panic. But if they hold firm, the polling suggests they’ll do just fine voting “aye.”
