First Lady Michelle Obama joked that the fairer sex is brainier than the dudes out there Wednesday during a U.S.-Africa Summit forum. Responding to a question from moderator Cokie Roberts about why it’s important for women in positions of influence to be heard, Obama said that the “spotlight” for her and a person like fellow forum participant Laura Bush is short. Oh, and one other thing.
“And women are smarter than men.”
According to a transcript provided by the White House press office, there was laughter and applause.
“And the men can’t complain, because you’re outnumbered today,” Obama added.
