Ami Horowitz, a filmmaker known for his 2011 documentary “U.N. Me,” traveled to Portland State University in Oregon to pose as a representative from a fake organization called “America Friends for Hamas” in an effort to collect money for Hamas.
Horowitz went to Portland State because the Boycott, Diverse and Sanction Movement against Israel began in Portland. He wanted to see what liberal college students were willing to do for this movement. The BDS Movement has been pushed by Palestinian activists on college campuses throughout America. During the 2014-2015 school year, 19 colleges and universities considered divestments due to BDS campus organizations. Colleges such as Northwestern, Stanford, and UCLA all have BDS groups on their campuses.
Horowitz received “hundreds of dollars” to fund Hamas within an hour. One women donated $27 because it matched her donation to the Bernie Sanders campaign.
When asking for donations, Horowitz said that the terrorist organization was “kind of rebuilt and re-branded” and their donations would fund attacks on Israeli cafes, schools, and hospitals. Horowitz also told students that his cause was a more radical version of the BDS Movement.
“It’s BDS at the next level. There’s BDS and we’re like, BDS plus,” Horowitz said.
Horowitz also received nods when he told students he wanted to destroy Israel and wipe them off the map.
