Trump piles on Jeb: ‘An embarrassment to the Bush family’

Donald Trump continued to bash Jeb Bush Sunday, calling his 2016 foe “an embarrassment to the Bush family” after the former Florida governor called Trump a “jerk” on the stump Saturday.

Appearing on “Meet The Press,” Trump also lampooned Bush’s poll numbers, saying that he’s likely to be off the debate stage soon because of how low they are. He said the GOP “isn’t even listening” to Bush anymore.

“Jeb is a weak … ineffective person. Jeb, if he were president, it would just be more of the same. It would be — he’s got money from all of the lobbyists and of the special interests that run him like a puppet,” Trump said. “[H]e’s going to be off the stage soon.”

Trump then repeated an attack from Friday against Bush, when he tweeted about Bush’s use of his first name on the trail, but not his last name.

“He’s an embarrassment to the Bush family, and in fact, he doesn’t want to use the Bush name, which is interesting,” Trump said. “Jeb is an embarrassment to himself and to his family, and the Republican Party has essentially — they’re not even listening to Jeb.”

Trump currently sits second in the Washington Examiner’s latest power rankings, while Bush lands in fourth.
