Cavaliers (19-38) at Wizards (14-45) pregame

Times are bleak at Verizon Center tonight, where the Wizards have returned with their tail between their legs after get obliterated in New York last night, 103-65, in a game that featured only two positives: John Wall finishing an alley oop dunk over the back of birthday boy Baron Davis and Cartier Martin hitting a 3-pointer in the second to last minute that helped Washington avoid matching its franchise worst scoring total by one point.

Did the Wizards even look at the tape?

“I threw that out in LaGuardia,” Wizards coach Randy Wittman said.

But if you think that’s bad, check out visiting Cleveland, which is playing without No. 1 overall draft pick Kyrie Irving (sprained right shoulder) and former Wizard Antawn Jamison (rest) in the second of three games in three nights. The Cavaliers starters: Donald Sloan (seven career starts), Anthony Parker, Alonzo Gee, Luke Harangody (making his first career start tonight) and Tristan Thompson (16 career starts).

Keep in mind, the Cavaliers (19-38) are 1.5 games ahead (read: behind) Sacramento (19-38) for the fourth worst record in the NBA (read: fourth most Ping Pong balls in next month’s NBA Draft lottery).

Cleveland’s visit also brings back into the building two former 10-day contract players with the Wizards, Gee and Lester Hudson, who were flip-flopped for one another at the beginning of last season. Hudson started season in Wizards training camp but was let go on Nov. 21, 2010 – with Gee getting signed the next day. But after Washington sent Gilbert Arenas to Orlando and got back Rashard Lewis in return a month later, Gee was waived and Hudson was brought back.
