Clinton hits Trump but pro-Bernie protesters interrupt

As Hillary Clinton tried to move on to the general election by rallying Latinos against Donald Trump in California, throngs of protesters, including supporters of her Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders, interrupted her campaign rally.

Prior to Clinton’s speech, the protesters gathered outside the East Los Angeles arena holding signs that read things such as “Never Hillary” or “Clinton lied, heroes died.” When one persistent protestor interrupted Clinton’s speech the crowd drown him out with chants of “Hil-a-ry! Hil-a-ry!”

“Let the other side do the yelling. We’re going to be talking and rolling up our sleeves,” Clinton responded before continuing with her speech.

The former secretary of state went on to criticize Trump’s proposals on immigration and the economy, a big part of her pitch to voters in November. Despite the protesters, the crowd cheered loudly throughout her 14-minute speech.

“I can’t imagine a starker choice on the economy,” Clinton said. “Donald Trump actually says wages are too high in America. I have no idea who he is talking to do you?”

The Democratic front-runner added, “I’d like to see him live on $7.25 an hour!”

Although California voters don’t go to the polls until June 7, Sanders has focused much of its remaining resources on the state. With 546 delegates at stake, the Sanders campaign has even relocated numerous staffers to California in order to ensure the Vermont senator remains competitive.

“We are competing for every state but especially here in California,” Clinton boasted to the energetic crowd. “Because I know winning big in the California primary will put us on track to winning big in November!”

Clinton is trying to keep the focus on November, but the Democratic primary keeps getting in the way.
