President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen reportedly complained to friends that he had yet to be reimbursed for the $130,000 payment he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels less than two weeks before the election.
Cohen wired Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, the large sum of money 12 days before the 2016 presidential election as part of an agreement for her silence about an affair she claims she had with Trump during the early days of his marriage to first lady Melania Trump.
After Trump won the election, Cohen complained to friends that he had not been reimbursed for the payment, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Cohen had also missed two deadlines to pay Daniels because he could not get in contact with Trump in the final days of the campaign, the report said.
Cohen did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
He said last month that he paid Daniels with his own money and that he was not reimbursed by the Trump campaign or the Trump Organization. Cohen did not answer questions about whether he was reimbursed by the president or anyone else.
