RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia regulators are holding public hearings on Dominion Virginia Power’s proposal to build two new transmission lines from Surry County to the city of Hampton.
The Richmond-based energy provider is seeking to build a new, 7.4-mile overhead 500-kilovolt transmission line between its Surry switching station in Surry County to a new switching station in James City County. That would include a 3.5-mile overhead crossing of the James River.
From the new switching station, Dominion proposes building more than 20 miles of new overhead 230-kilovolt transmission line through James City and York counties, Newport News and ending at the company’s Whealton substation in Hampton.
The State Corporation Commission will conduct a hearing in Williamsburg on Oct. 24 and another hearing in Richmond on Jan. 10.
