Two attorneys have declined to join the legal team representing President Trump in matters pertaining to special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia probe, according to a report.
Tom Buchanan and Dan Webb turned down Trump “due to business conflicts,” the pair — of the law firm Winston & Straw — told the Daily Beast in a written statement Monday.
“However, they consider the opportunity to represent the president to be the highest honor and they sincerely regret that they cannot do so. They wish the president the best and believe he has excellent representation in Ty Cobb and Jay Sekulow,” the statement added.
A White House spokesperson did not immediately respond to the Washington Examiner‘s request for comment.
Trump on Sunday wrote on Twitter that “many lawyers and top law firms” were jostling to advise him on “the Russia case.”
“Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted. Problem is that a new lawyer or law firm will take months to get up to speed (if for no other reason than they can bill more), which is unfair to our great country – and I am very happy with my existing team,” he tweeted.

Buchanan and Webb’s announcement follows John Dowd, another personal attorney of Trump’s, resigning last week, days after saying he believed Mueller should end his investigation.
It also follows reports Joseph DiGenova and his wife and law partner Victoria Toensing would not be providing the president with legal counsel.
