Hillary Clinton: Wasn’t I supposed to be honored soon?

The State Department late Tuesday released thousands of pages of emails, many of which showed her pre-occupation with press coverage, and others of which were some of the emails from her secret adviser Sidney Blumenthal.

But others were just normal, run-of-the-mill emails about all sorts of weird stuff.

On October 19, 2009, for example, Clinton wondered what ever happened to some event that fall in which she was supposed to be honored. She wasn’t even sure if it happened at all.

“I thought there was an event this Fall (maybe even honoring me?). But, did it not happen or did I not go? What happened?” she asked. The subject line in the email was “Allida Black’s Eleanor Roosevelt human rights event.”

In December, after a trip to China, she asked a staffer to figure out how to get one of those cool carpets found in China.

“Can you contact your protocol friend in China and ask him if I could get photos of the carpets of the rooms I met in w POTUS during the recent trip?” she asked. “I loved their designs and the way they appeared carved. Any chance we can get this?”

After being asked where she saw the carpet, Clinton wrote, “The Great Hall where we met w Hu,” a reference to China’s leader at the time, Hu Jintao.

The subject line of that email was, “DON’T LAUGH!”

Also in December, Clinton got confused about how to work the fax line in her office. Her aide, Huma Abedin, told her to hang up the line so people could call her.

“I thought it was supposed to be off the hook to work?” Clinton asked. Abedin said she has to just pick up the phone and hang it up.

“I’ve done it twice now,” Clinton wrote back.

Clinton’s most mundane moment might have been in September 2009, when she sent an email to ask for a cool refreshment.
