Director Spike Lee, known for making films highlighting race relations, released a short film on Monday linking the deaths of George Floyd and Eric Garner to Radio Raheem, a character in his 1989 film Do the Right Thing.
The film titled 3 Brothers is a 90-second film that starts by asking the question, “Will history stop repeating itself?”
It shows images of Floyd, Garner, and Raheem being interrogated and restrained by police officers, with all three ultimately dying in their custody.

Floyd’s death last Monday sparked national protests, which have escalated into episodes of looting, arson, and violence in cities across the country.
Floyd died after a white Minneapolis police officer, who has since been fired and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter, restrained him by placing his knee on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Floyd can be heard in a viral video that he couldn’t breathe before he went unconscious.
